The founder of Sears learned the true measure of wealth near his retirement

--

According to this doco:

At his retirement with a net worth equivalent to what would be 0.5 billion US dollars today, and after decades of fierce competition with Montgomery Ward, Richard Sears said he had “… earned for me something besides money, namely, a little relaxation and a little time for my family. (Timestamp 32:12).”

It’s great that Richard Sears learned what were the true riches later rather than never. He hustled and created wealth using the infrastructure of his day – the railroads. But today’s infrastructure is the internet, and it’s much more efficient and much more pervasive as well.

As a willing and able person of the 21st Century, you could build a burgeoning online business AND spend time relaxing and raising your family all at once. What a great time to be alive!
